Empowering Business to Go Digital

Provides a successful applicant with up to $3 million in funding to establish a non-government not for profit organisation to build and enhance small business digital capability and to address issues raised in the Small Business Digital Taskforce report.

Gambling Community Benefit Fund

Not-for-profit groups operating in Queensland can apply for grants from $500 to $35,000 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF). This fund is Queensland’s largest one-off grants program, distributing approximately $55 million per year. The fund allocates grants to not-for-profit community groups, to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities.

Fisheries Research and Development Corporation Grant

The FRDC has developed a more flexible approach to how it funds projects to align with the FRDC Research Development and Extension (RD&E) Plan principles of ‘Lead, Collaborate and Partner’. Nationally, the FRDC will LEAD and target investment towards three national research priorities: ensuring that Australian fishing and aquaculture products are sustainable and acknowledged to be so; improving productivity and profitability of fishing and aquaculture; and developing new and emerging aquaculture growth opportunities.

Landing Pads program

Provides Australian start-up businesses with a workspace for up to 90 days in a global innovation hub. The space includes access to coaching, investors, customers, training opportunities, tailored networking events and state-of-the-art facilities to develop their business model.

Ecobiz

Through this free program CCIQ help businesses understand energy, water and waste costs and teach you to save money through sustainability initiatives. As a member of the program, you will have the opportunity to utilize our complimentary tools including: One-on-one coaching, site surveys and benchmarking support (including expert bill and expenditure assessment).
Aside from these, you also have access to CCIQ suite of materials including found under hot topics, including fact sheets, webinars and our monthly newsletter to help you cut your power bill and gain water and waste management advice.

Entrepreneurs Programme: Business Evaluation

Provides businesses with access to experienced, independent Business Advisers in order to review the business and provide a Business Evaluation Action Plan with recommended strategies for business improvement or growth. Provides businesses with a Supplier Improvement Plan service to improve supply chain performance and better understand customer’s needs and requirements. Must have an annual turnover between $1.5 mill and $100 million

Mentoring for Growth (M4G) QLD

Mentoring for Growth (M4G) offers eligible businesses access to volunteer business experts who provide insights, options and suggestions relating to challenges and opportunities you are experiencing in your business. The M4G program assists Queensland businesses to grow and succeed in the current business environment. When you participate in the M4G program, the Queensland Government matches its mentors’ expertise and experience with the particular business challenge or opportunity you have identified. M4G is not recommended for start-ups or early stage businesses.

Entrepreneurs Programme: Supply Chain Facilitation

Supply Chain Facilitation services are tailored to assist and enable eligible Australian small and medium businesses to participate in domestic and global supply chains, generate sustainable business growth and find opportunities to connect and network with their customers.

Australian Trusted Trader

Provides Australian businesses involved in importing and exporting with an accreditation which enables them to streamline and simplify customs processes.

Cyber Security Small Business Program

The Cyber Security Small Business Program will support small businesses across Australia to have their cyber security tested by a provider that has been approved by the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers Australia New Zealand (CREST).

Injury Prevention and Management (IPaM) program

The Injury Prevention and Management program (IPaM) works with Queensland employers to develop improved injury prevention and injury management systems. The IPaM program works with employers to review their current injury prevention and management processes and develop a business plan for improving identified areas. Once a business commits to participating in the IPaM program they will be allocated a dedicated IPaM Advisor to work with, initially for up to 12 months to complete the program. IPaM advisors are not inspectors, their role is to provide advice and support, not to enforce compliance. IPaM advisors work closely with employers during multiple visits to identify and address specific opportunities for improvement.

BUSINESS GRANTS

Defence Global Competitiveness Grants

Provides eligible SMEs (up to 200 employees) with matched funding grants of up to $150,000 to invest in projects that build defence export capability to build a stronger, more sustainable and globally competitive Australian defence industry.

Small Business Grants for Solar Battery Systems

Small businesses can apply for a grants to purchase a battery system. Around 500 packages are available offering grants of $3,000.

Business Growth Fund Program

Funding of up to $50,000 (excluding GST) is available for eligible businesses to purchase and implement highly specialised equipment or services. These purchases should enable businesses to move to the next stage of growth

Small Business Innovation Research for Defence: Next Generation Technologies Fund

Mall Business Innovation Reasearch for Defence (SBIRD) is a program encouraging Australian Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMEs), including University start ups to undertake research projects under the Next Generation Technologies Fund. The SBIRD program will support a number of alternative approaches in Stage 1. In Stage 2 funding can be provided to a promising Stage 1 project to demonstrate that the technology / idea has real potential to be a solution to the defined problem. Proposals will be required to describe projects that demonstrate a proposed idea/technology has a real viability to function, while scoped around what is achievable within a maximum budget of $150,000 in a time frame of between 6 – 9 months. You must be an Australian or NZ business, university or publicly funded research agency to apply.

Jobs and Market Fund – NDIS

The Australian Government is inviting applications in an open process to apply to deliver projects under the NDIS Jobs and Market Fund, which contributes to the Department of Social Services Outcome 3: Disability and Carers over three years from 2018-19 to 2020-21. To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types: Company, Local Government, Cooperative, Incorporated Association, Sole Trader, Statutory Entity, Partnership, Indigenous Corporation, Trustee on behalf of a Trust.

The Trade Skills Assessment and Gap Training (TSAGT) Program gives eligible Queenslanders with substantial industry experience the opportunity to complete a priority trade qualification.

Safe Work Australia Sponsorship Program

Proposed activities reach and influence Safe Work Australia’s target audiences and align with Australian WHS Strategy. Sponsorship under this Program can include the receipt or provision of goods, services, cash, intellectual property or expertise in return for negotiated benefits. This includes applications for us to provide a speaker or subject matter expert at your event.

Resource Recovery Industry Development Program: Stream Two EOI

Along with upgrades to existing operations, it’s also important that QLD expands those operations and attracts significant new facilities to our state. Stream two offers broad incentives to attract or expand major resource recover operations that will divert considerable amounts of waste from landfill and recover valuable resources. Stream two applications are a two-stage process, beginning with an eligibility assessment.

Resource Recovery Industry Development Program: Stream Three Detailed Application

It’s also important that we plan in detail for the next generation of resource recovery projects. Stream three offers support towards capital-intensive, long-lifecycle projects that require a contribution towards investigations to assist with investment decisions for QLD.  Stream three applications are a single-stage detailed assessment process.

Advanced Manufacturing Early Stage Research Fund (AMESRF)

support small-scale and pilot research projects in advanced manufacturing, and benefit smaller firms and early stage research. The fund will provide grants to SMEs for rapid initial feasibility testing, allowing the projects to then move quickly to larger-scale research or commercialisation.

ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program

ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program supports a broad range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects that can deliver affordable and reliable renewable energy for Australian families and businesses. The Program Objective is to fund Activities that contribute to one or more of the following Program Outcomes: reduction in the cost of renewable energy, increase in the value delivered by renewable energy and improvement in technology readiness and commercial readiness of Renewable Energy Technologies d. reduction in or removal of barriers to renewable energy uptake e. increased skills, capacity and knowledge relevant to Renewable Energy Technologies.

R&D Tax Incentive

Provides a tax offset for some of a company’s cost of doing eligible research and development (R&D) activities by reducing a company’s income tax liability. Tax offsets of 43.5% or 38.5% are available for costs incurred on eligible activities depending on a company’s annual aggregated turnover. The 43.5% benefit is a refundable offset.

Incubator Support – Expert-in-Residence

Provides business incubators with grants of up to $100,000 to access top quality research, managerial and technical talent through incoming and outgoing secondments of national or international experts. This expertise aims to increase the capabilities of incubators and improve the chance of commercial success for start-ups in international markets.

Textile, Clothing and Footwear Corporatewear Register

Provides employees with tax deductions for the cost of renting, purchasing or maintaining a non-compulsory uniform, where this clothing is registered by employers. Employers are also eligible for fringe benefit tax (FBT) concessions on any contribution they make towards the employee’s uniforms.

Emissions Reduction Fund

Provides businesses with the opportunity to earn Australian carbon credit units (ACCUs) for every tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent a business stores or avoids emitting through projects which adopt new practices and technologies. The ACCUs can be sold to generate income.

Wage Subsidies

Provides employers with financial incentives to hire and retain eligible job seekers in ongoing and sustainable positions.

Business Development and Assistance Program

Provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and businesses with access to finance products, advice, training and workshops to start or grow a small to medium business. Applicants must be at least 18 and of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent

Employer Support Payment Scheme (ESPS)

Provides businesses who employ a Reservist or a self-employed Reservist with payments when the Reservist is absent from their civilian workplace on eligible periods of Defence service.

Indigenous Advancement Strategy

Provides organisations with funding to undertake projects or activities which promote equal opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships (ESVCLP)

Provides fund managers and investors with tax benefits, including a tax exemption on an investor’s share of a fund’s income and gains.

Efic Bond Facilities

Provides small to medium export businesses with bonds as security for export contracts.

Efic Small Business Export Loan

Provides small to medium export businesses with loans of between $20,000 to $350,000 to cover up to 80% of the costs to secure an export contract or purchase order with an overseas buyer.

Efic Export Working Capital Guarantee

Provides small and medium business exporters, and companies in an export supply chain with a guarantee to allow you to access further working capital from your bank.

Venture Capital Limited Partnerships (VCLP)

Provides foreign investors with a flow-through tax incentive (exemption from capital gains tax for gains made on eligible investments) to stimulate their investment in Australia’s venture capital sector.

Advancing Renewables Program

Provides businesses with funding or finance to develop renewable energy technologies.

Youth Jobs PaTH

Provides businesses with assistance and funding of up to $1000, plus insurance, to trial a young person aged between 17-24 to make sure they’re suitable for employment within the business, and up to $10,000 for businesses that hire an eligible young person.

Efic Export Contract Loan

Provides small and medium businesses with loans from $100,000 to support an export contract or purchase order when traditional lenders are unable to help. You must have an annual revenue of over $250,000 and been established for at least 2 years with an ACN.

Certain Inputs to Manufacture – determination to allow duty-free entry of goods for Manufacturing

Provides Australian manufacturers importing chemicals, plastics, paper goods and metal materials, or goods used in food packaging, with duty-free tariff concessions to help reduce their importing costs. There are two types of goods that are eligible: chemical, plastics and paper goods (Item 46 goods), metal materials and goods used in food packaging (Item 47 goods).
Amount Available: If you are successful,  you will be issued with a determination to allow duty-free entry of the goods. A determination usually lasts up to two years. You will need to apply every two years.

Entrepreneurs Programme: Innovation Connections

Provides businesses with access to a highly skilled facilitator, for the purpose of reviewing the business’ research needs. If required, the facilitator will connect the business to expertise within the research sector and help to define a project scope. Up to $50,000 in matched funding support is available to the business, should it choose to fund the project with the recommendation of the facilitator.

Entrepreneurs Programme: Growth Services

Provides businesses who have a growth opportunity with access to experienced Advisers and Facilitators delivering Growth Services who will work with them to develop their unique growth plan. Advisers/Facilitators will mentor the business through the implementation of their plan, facilitating access to knowledge and expertise, research, funding and other assistance.

Business Development Fund

Queensland businesses at the forefront of commercialising cutting edge research or innovative ideas, products or services have the opportunity to access $80 million of investment to help unlock their innovative potential. The Fund’s investment is a direct investment in the business, it is not: a payment to the co-investor, a grant, a loan. Both the co-investor and the Fund will become shareholders in the same company, holding shares with identical rights. The Fund will hold this investment until the Fund’s shares are bought out through a merger, acquisition or initial public offering.

Small Business Grants (less than 200 employees) for support in Defence contract capabilities

The Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grants will help Australian SMEs to invest in projects that build capabilities aligned with Defence’s stated Sovereign Industrial Capability Priorities. Up to $17 million is available each year from 2018-19 to 2021-22. The grant amount will be up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs. Project activities can include: buying, leasing, constructing, installing or commissioning of capital equipment including specialist software to enhance cyber security design, engineering and commissioning activities workforce training and accreditations. To be eligible you must be an SME with less than 200 employees, have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following entities: a company, incorporated in Australia or an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust

Industry Tech Fund QLD

Provides businesses participating in collaborative, large scale, co-funded technology projects with funding of between $250,000 and $5 million to accelerate the emergence of new products and / or services based on a platform technology. At a minimum, you must: be a GST registered business with an Australian Business Number (ABN); have a minimum of three QLD based partners; be able fund at least 75% of the cost of the eligible project.

CSIRO Kick-Start

The CSIRO Kick-Start program provides matched funding to Australian start-ups and very small SME’s to undertake research activities with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), including: researching a new idea with commercial potential, developing a novel or improved product or process, testing a novel product or material. Must have been a registered company for less than three years or have an annual turnover of less than $1.5mil for each of the last three years.

Departmental Sponsorship QLD

Provides organisations or companies with sponsorship for events, activities or other initiatives that benefit the Queensland community.

Product Stewardship for Oil Program

Provides businesses that recycle or use recycled oil a financial benefit of up to 50 cents per litre of oil, to encourage the environmentally sustainable management and re-refining of used oil.

Duty Drawback Scheme

Provides exporters a refund of customs duty paid on unused imported goods, or goods that will be treated, processed or incorporated into other goods for export.

Fuel Tax Credits

Provides businesses who have purchased fuel for their business with a credit for the tax that’s included in the price of fuel.

Tradex Scheme

Provides exporters with an up-front exemption from Customs duty and GST for goods imported into Australia and then exported within one year. For the benefits, you must hold a Tradex order before you import your goods.

Supported Wage System

Provides employers of people with a disability with a free productivity assessment so they can pay wages to them based on their productivity.

Payroll Tax Rebate – Apprentices and Trainees

If your apprentice and trainee wages are exempt from payroll tax, you can also claim a payroll tax rebate that reduces your payroll tax amount for the particular liability(periodic, annual or final return).

Agrifutures Horizon Scholarship

To be eligible for the Horizon Scholarship, students must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident enrolled full-time in their last two years of an agriculture-related undergraduate degree at an Australian university with a maximum two-year gap between high school and tertiary study. Suitable degrees include, but are not limited to: Agricultural Science, Rural Science, Livestock/Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agribusiness, Plant Science, Agricultural Economics, Resource Management, Sustainability, Food Security, Agricultural Economics, Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM) with major studies and subject selections relevant to, and aligned with, agriculture

Supporting a healthy pollination future grants

The Pollination Fund, part of the Hort Frontiers strategic partnership initiative, aims to enhance and support existing pollinators, and identify the most effective pollination methods for various horticulture crop types. To help in safeguarding the horticulture industry, the Pollination Fund will identify putting practical measures in place to support honey bee health and identify and develop new pollination opportunities and techniques.

Hort Frontiers – Advanced Production Systems Fund

The purpose of the Advanced Production Systems Fund is to increase farm productivity and profitability of the Australian horticulture industry by implementing R&D programs in all fruit, vegetable, amenity and nut crops to deliver “future smart farming” systems.

Vessel Tracking Rebate Scheme

The Queensland Sustainable Fisheries Strategy 2017 – 2027 outlines a ten-year reform agenda for the sustainable management of Queensland fisheries. As part of this strategy, vessel tracking capability will be required on all commercial fishing boats by 2020, with a priority to install units on net, line and crab commercial fishing boats by 1 January, 2019.
The Queensland Government Vessel Tracking Rebate Scheme offsets the costs incurred by commercial fishers to purchase and have installed approved vessel tracking units on their fishing boats.
Costs eligible for the rebate include those for the purchase and installation of approved vessel tracking units.

The Enterprise Solution Centre – Food/Agribusiness funding

Provides businesses with matched funding of between $2,500 and $100,000 to help them find commercialisation solutions for their novel product, process or service. Must be a food, beverage or agribusiness producer, or be a supplier to the agribusiness chain.

Provides Queensland primary producers and commercial fishers with loans of up to $1.3 million to become more productive and sustainable.

Natural Disaster Assistance QLD

Provides Queensland small businesses and primary producers with low-interest loans of up to $250,000 to assist with disaster recovery.

Farm Management Deposits Scheme

Provides primary production businesses with tax deductions on farm management deposits to help them deal with inconsistent income from natural disasters, climate and market changes.

Managing Farm Risk Program

The Managing Farm Risk Program provides rebates for advice and assessments to help farmers prepare and apply for a new insurance policy that assists with the management of drought and other production and market risks.
These one-off rebates will be for half of the costs incurred by eligible farm businesses, up to a maximum of $2 500 (GST exclusive). The rebates are not for insurance policy premiums.

TraNsfoRM! Innovation funding

The TraNsfoRM! Innovation funding round, offering up to $1 million per project, is now open.The focus of this round of funding is to develop innovative approaches to improve land and water condition, with key outcomes contributing towards improvements such as: health and stability of soil; condition and extent of native vegetation; quality and flow of water; and water entering the Great Barrier Reef. The funding provides an opportunity for the development of new and more efficient processes, technologies, activities and tools to improve, repair and restore Queensland’s natural assets. Applicants are to be individuals or not for profit.
Amount Available: between $250,000 and $1,000,000 per project

The overarching outcome of the Program is to support a professional, viable and ethical Indigenous languages and arts network that features strong participation and provides for economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program

ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program supports a broad range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects that can deliver affordable and reliable renewable energy for Australian families and businesses. The Program Objective is to fund Activities that contribute to one or more of the following Program Outcomes: reduction in the cost of renewable energy, increase in the value delivered by renewable energy and improvement in technology readiness and commercial readiness of Renewable Energy Technologies d. reduction in or removal of barriers to renewable energy uptake e. increased skills, capacity and knowledge relevant to Renewable Energy Technologies.

Ignitor Fund

Under this grant program they are seeking to support Australian social enterprise changemakers who are finding new and innovative solutions to tackle the most pressing issues within their local communities and who are now looking to build capacity to overcome the challenges of taking their concept to scale to be impact investment ready.
