Introducing Sorita McGrane: RDA Moreton Bay's New CEO

Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay (RDA Moreton Bay) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sorita McGrane as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With a wealth of experience in regional and economic development, Sorita brings a fresh perspective and boundless enthusiasm to her role. We are excited to welcome her on board as she embarks on this journey of fostering growth and development in the Moreton Bay region.

Sorita McGrane officially took the reins as CEO in early August, and her arrival promises to be a game-changer for our organisation. Her impressive background in both local and state government, as well as her experience in various leadership roles, positions her as an ideal leader to spearhead RDA Moreton Bay's mission of shaping the future of our vibrant community.

Prior to joining RDA Moreton Bay, Sorita led initiatives in Food and Agribusiness, Workforce development, and Indigenous Business Support for the City of Moreton Bay. Her extensive experience isn't limited to the public sector; Sorita has also ventured into the world of small business alongside her husband. Together, they have successfully managed ventures in money management training and coaching, project coordination, property management, and real estate.

Kelvin Patch, Chair of the Committee, expressed his excitement about Sorita's appointment, stating, "We were overwhelmed with the quality of applications we received; however, Sorita stood out from the rest as a highly motivated leader of Moreton Bay with a vision, drive, and passion for economic development, with an impressive track record."

RDA Moreton Bay, with a footprint that perfectly aligns with the boundaries of the City of Moreton Bay, is at the forefront of shaping the future of one of the fastest-growing populations in the country. Sorita's hands-on approach will be instrumental in facilitating economic development opportunities and investments within our city.

"As a committee, we’re extremely confident that Sorita is well positioned to lead RDA Moreton Bay at an exciting time of reinvention and repositioning as we navigate the new charter and priorities as an organisation," Kelvin continued.

Sorita's unique skill set, and experiences have already set her on a path to support businesses and contribute to RDA Moreton Bay's priorities. She is eager to collaborate with the Chair, Committee, various levels of government, and the broader business community to deliver economic development outcomes in the region.

"My husband and I moved to Moreton Bay just under three years ago and have instantly fallen in love with Moreton Bay. I’m honored and excited to play a role in supporting its growth and economic development, first in my role at Council, and most recently in my new appointment as CEO," Sorita shared.

Sorita's vision for RDA Moreton Bay extends beyond the organisation itself. She is committed to strengthening our relationships with government and communities while working at a strategic level to deliver economic development outcomes that make a tangible difference to the 29,000+ businesses that call Moreton Bay home.

"As an organisation, we’re busy navigating the new charter and priorities to understand how we can add value in these areas, which include supporting businesses to work towards their Net Zero carbon footprint and how we can better work with our First Nations people," Sorita emphasised.

Sorita's passion for inclusive economic development is evident through her work with Economic Development Australia, where she teaches other practitioners across Australia about Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Entrepreneurship & Inclusive Economic Development. She is determined to drive positive change in these areas for Moreton Bay.
