RDA Moreton Bay: 2022 Year in Review

Last year was an incredibly busy year for us all and the team at RDA Moreton Bay is extremely proud of everything we accomplished in 2022 – and excited about what’s to come in 2023!

As we reflect on the year that was, here’s just a few of our highlights:

Welcomed new Committee Members

In many ways, 2022 was a remarkable year of growth and change for RDA Moreton Bay. Significantly, we welcomed three new Committee Members to the RDA Moreton Bay Committee.

After a region-wide search, and with an incredibly high-calibre of applicants, it was with great pleasure that we welcomed Cr Jodie Shipway, Natassia Wheeler and Zac Wright - and they have already hit the ground running to make contributions to the Moreton Bay regional economy.

New office for RDA Moreton Bay

Another highlight of 2022 was our relocation to our brand new office in North Lakes at the beginning of the year. Our new location is easily accessible from the north and south of the region, providing a good place to meet with our stakeholders.

Moreton Bay Region Funding Finder

With our focus on supporting and boosting regional economic development, we launched the Moreton Bay Region Funding Finder in partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council.  Funding Finder is a free online service which provides free information on grant and funding opportunities to local businesses.

Registering on Funding Finder gives local businesses a quick and thorough understanding of the current funding landscape and financial opportunities available to them. Businesses need only visit the website portal once to set up a profile. After that they will receive, tailored information straight to their inbox.

For businesses in our region, this is one tool you want to be using!

Sponsorship of 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards

RDA Moreton Bay proudly sponsored the Award for Innovation Excellence at the Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards, which went to Concrete Data Sensors. This innovative local business has designed and developed a world-first sensor monitoring technology for any concrete elements in the construction, building, civil, infrastructure and mining industries.

It’s wonderful to see local businesses receiving such well-deserved recognition, and we would like to once again extend our warmest congratulations to the team at Concrete Data Sensors in this remarkable achievement!

Businesses Helping Businesses Breakfast

Last November, we were very excited to deliver the inaugural Businesses Helping Businesses breakfast – which was focused on connecting local businesses with a range of free tools to support their growth and success. This included presentations on tools and opportunities such as the Moreton Bay Region Funding Finder, the Ask Morty marketing data chat-bot, and UniSC’s FREE Business Management Planning Course.

We were thrilled by the wonderful turnout for this event, as well as the extremely positive feedback we received from those who attended.

New website and increased social presence

To help keep businesses and business leaders up to date with important regional news, funding opportunities and programs, RDA Moreton Bay launched a brand-new website and has increased its social media presence.

Our website revamp means that it’s now easier than ever for us to connect you with the valuable opportunities to businesses in our region – not to mention, it’s much easier on the eyes!

Social media is another important platform for us the share relevant news, opportunities and programs with those in our region, and we encourage you to connect with us on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Working with Federal Government

We continued in our efforts to connect local businesses with grants, funding and support programs from the Federal Government through our website, social media and monthly newsletters.

We engaged with the Federal Government on the most important issues facing our region, including the aftermath of the flood crisis and the future of jobs and skills.  It is incredibly important to us that we continue to advocate for the Moreton Bay Region on a federal level, and we’re incredibly proud of what our team has been able to accomplish in this regard.

Other Developments

We were thrilled to become a founding sponsor of the Moreton Bay chapter of the Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN), and to attend and support local events such as the Meet the Makers event, where local agribusinesses presented their products to buyers.

And finally, as a member of the Local Jobs Taskforce, we were thrilled to contribute to the development of the Local Jobs Plan for the Somerset Region.

From the entire team at RDA Moreton Bay, we would like thank you for your continued support throughout 2022. We are also very excited for all that we have planned for 2023! Stay tuned for an overview of what we have in store for this year…
