RDA Moreton Bay Monthly Business Update

Welcome to our December Business “Growth” e news. Moreton Bay region is thriving with lots of opportunities for businesses to consult, learn, and participate.

It is that end of the year when the business awards in the Moreton Bay region are recognising excellence and innovation across a range of categories. There is no doubt that the Moreton Bay region shows leadership in service, innovation and community spirit.

On 2 November the 2018 Brendale Business Awards were held at the Wantima Country Club where 19 recipients received a Brendale Business WOW! for their excellent and consistent customer service and as part of the WOW! Awards international program. Awards were also given out in a range of other categories including Innovation, Service Excellence and Community Contribution.

On Friday 30 November Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism staged the second annual Moreton Bay Region Business Excellence and Innovation Awards 2018 at the Eatons Hill Hotel.  With an impressive 210 nominations across all categories, this gala evening event highlighted excellence and achievement in business across 12 categories, as well as the Moreton Bay Region Business of the Year.
RDA Moreton Bay congratulates all winners across the two events and in particular Solar Bollard Lighting winner of the Regional Development Australia, Moreton Bay, Exporting Excellence Award.

Did you know that Workplace Health and Safety Queensland don’t just do compliance?  They also deliver the very successful IPaM program – Injury Prevention and Management program.  The program works at three levels of support and assists employers with advice and tools to introduce injury prevention and management into the workplace for long-lasting positive change.  And it’s free!!!  With a 1000 employer strong track record IPaM is helping Queensland businesses achieve lower injury claim rates, improved productivity, lower injuries and reduced insurance premiums.

On 14 January 2019 we are launching Moreton Bay Jobs https://moretonbayjobs.com.au , a portal for both employers and job seekers in the Moreton Bay Region.  By posting your vacancy on a jobs board with a regional focus you will access a pool of candidates who have geographical proximity to your business as well as the relevant training, skills and experience.

For job seekers Moreton Bay Jobs is also able to aggregate advertised jobs from other sources e.g. LinkedIn and Indeed.  Moreton Bay Jobs is aiming to become the Number 1 portal linking employers and job-seekers in the Moreton Bay Region.

The website will also provide up-to-date information to inform and educate both employers and job -seekers on trends and best practice.  It will hold information about industries, job streams, companies, resumé and interview tips, jobs search strategies and links to other informative and relevant platforms.

The best news of all is that Moreton Bay Jobs is FREE for employers and job-seekers.  The site is under development, as are policies and terms and conditions of use.  It will be operational on 14 January 2019 and we are taking jobs for advertising from 7 January 2019.  They can be sent to jobs@rdamoretonbay.org.au. From 14 January 2018 businesses will be able to post their jobs directly to the website. Job seekers will be able to upload their resumés from 14 January 2019.

Watch this space and we will tell you more about Moreton Bay Jobs in the new year.

This is our last e-newsletter for 2018.  We will be spending the last working weeks of the year doing some planning, research and writing and, as always, it is important to remind you that we are listening, asking for your feedback and looking for you to tell us how best we may assist you.

RDA Moreton Bay will be closed from 20/12/2018 and reopening on 8/01/2019.  We have a great 2019 line-up of consultation opportunities, workshops and presentations in the planning stages.  If you are currently involved in export you may receive a call from RPS Group who are undertaking a research project for us.  They are putting together some case studies and looking for business owners and managers who are interested in participating in focus groups.  Also, if you are a business that is not yet involved in export but would like to be, send me an email because RPS is keen to talk with you too.  My email is netteg@rdamoretonbay.org.au

On behalf of the RDA Moreton Bay Board, Jae and me, accept our best wishes for the festive season and the start of a brilliant, productive and successful new year.  Stay safe and see you in 2019.
