FROM THE DESK OF THE CHAIR
A new financial year has begun and with it a new business plan for Regional Development Australia Moreton Bay. The RDA Board has been hard at work looking at what we can do to support and nurture business in our region over the coming year. Whilst we are clear about the direction we should take, the details need some fine tuning and to that end we have launched a small survey that provides you with the opportunity to let us know how we can help you. The RDA Moreton Bay survey will be live from 9:00am Thursday 01 August until 9.00 am Thursday 30 August. Please take a few minutes to give us some feedback so that we can serve you better. Watch out for the link on our homepage and in our August newsletter.
Moreton Bay University commences construction
Along with most of my fellow Board members, I was excited to attend the ceremony conducted to mark the commencement of construction of the new Moreton Bay University on 4 July.
Due to open for Semester 1 in 2020, From Semester 1, USC Moreton Bay will be built on 10.5 hectares on the site of the former Petrie Paper Mill. The 23,000-square metre foundation facility will offer world-class teaching and learning spaces, with $10 million worth of state-of-the-art technology.
At opening, students will be able to study from almost 50 undergraduate degree programs. By 2022, 65 programs will be on offer, growing to more than 100 programs by 2030. For more information and to keep abreast of what is happening go to the University Update feature on our website link here
“Get Inspired by Cheryl Springer from Springers Solar”
Recently RDA Moreton Bay Director, Nette Griggs, sat down for a chat with Cheryl Springer from Springers Solar. Cheryl is also President of the Pine Rivers Chamber of Commerce and I suppose is a classic case of “ask a busy person to get something done!!” the article is an interesting insight into the history and functioning of a family business.
